I have a 40 watt light with a 50/50 light 48"
I also have 1 30 watt 9325 k light 36''
and 1 30 actinic light 36'' all these light are normal output fluorescent lights all on a 75 gallon tank
Now my question is what type of corals can i keep if any corals could i keep with this lighting?

No, at least nothing except mushrooms and maybe polyps, but we all know that that's never enough. You need to surf around, there are some really good specials going on right now at places on the net

I wouldn't give him a flat out No reponse. My 90 reef had only 80 watts of normal flourescents for a while and I was keeping LPS corals in it. Mind you they weren't thriving but with constant feedings they did fine. While I don't recommend those corals under such low light unless you are willing to provide them nourishment where light is lacking, I would not say No to his reponse. IME anyway. He has more light then I did on my 90 on his 75...I believe he could get away with some soft corals....maybe a colt, or a leather of some sort...

I agree with Azonic. I only had 40 watts of light over my 29 for a while and I was able to do well with mushrooms, xenia, and candy coral fairly successfully. Corals are expensive and I realized that you might as well upgrade the lighting for the cost of good corals.

The trick is just to get the corals you want right up to the light. If you have low light then the closer the better. Hope you have alot of high stacked live rock yetex.....
BTW start off with green or yellow polyps, see how they do, and go from there...

go with some aptasia- you need no light for those! and they will thrive , i promise- but on a more serious note, some sponges and gorgonians are a possibility as long as you make sure to feed them

Thanks for the replies that i received. I do plan on upgrading the lighting to vho in the future but for right now i will probably stick to mostly mushrooms and maybe some other low light corals that you recommended. I just wanted to start out with something till i got some spare money to upgrade to the icecap that i want. You know since im a college student im waiting on my student loans that will go to help my reef. Hey i don't have anything better to spend it on.
