im just wondering... what type of trigger is it? it almost looks like a tassel filefish to me, but that jsut might be the quality of the picture.
triggers are agressive preditory fish. A Niger is the only type that i have seen in a reef set up. They will eat many other types of fish smaller than themselves as well as crabs, snails, shrimps, and hermits. Also they have been known to pick at corals. I think it is highly unlikely.
what size tank is it?

well i am telling you right now you cannot keep him in there. Triggers get very large. An undelated will fit in a 50 gallon, but besides that you would need a 75 gallon tankg or bigger.
do you have a place to put the little fellow?
good luck

I was just looking at the fish here on the site and it looks like a blue line or undulating trigger. Cant tell though because it is soooooo small... Thats why I wonder about the markings on Juvenile vs. Adult. Looks sweet

I think its a tassle filefish. They're peaceful but not reef-safe and will eventually need a large tank. You should find a home for him soon, in the mean time feed him mysis shrimp and meaty foods. He is cute though. How did he end up in your tank?

I think you have swayed my opinion
i think it looks like a filefish as well. Are filefish and triggers closely related.
Do filefish have the retractable dorsal fin?

Thats what I thought, thats why I asked where you got it. Its a Sargasum(sp). I did the same thing. They hide in the floating seawead. Did you happen to notice how BIG its mouth is? It will eat your other fish if it can fit it. As for reef safe, I don't know. I released mine the same day after I found out what it was.
