No need to do all that, make up some extra salty water...the critters will drop right out... save the ones you want and get rid of the pests.
Put the rock back into he tank with the good critters and your good to go.

are you sure they are pests an not something that can live in your tank 'symbiotically' with your stock? drying it out would create massive amounts of die-off, and therefore would start a big cycle when you put it back in the tank. on top of that, you would lose all your beneficial bacteria. you couldnt dry out a portion at a time, because whatever 'pests' your trying to get rid of could just move onto the last batch of rock and just stay in the tank while you start another batch. also, depending on the size of your rocks, it could take a while to completely dry out live rock, and a lot of hitch hikers can survive periods of being dry by going into a state of suspended animation. depending on what you're trying to get rid of, there are traps and different processes' that can rid your tank of these critters. any information or pics would help us to give these things an ID (if you dont know what's in there). either way, i dont think drying out the rock will be effective and certainly not convenient for you. just my $0.02

i have a bunch of hydroids on my rocks
I have them too what I do (temp, bad, not a fix) is put the power head on them and use my net to catch them when I rip them off with my tongs then I put the net right in the out flow of my power heads to get the floaters it's pretty well all over my tank so I don't worry about it spreading some one told me to use boiling saltwater to kill it but I have too many corals too close to them do that I am wanting to start over in that tank so I am thinking about taking all my corals off the rock in that tank (I have a 2nd tank too put them in) and doing just what your saying but I will be starting all over but I sorta want to start over at the same time I have not had much "stinging" they do block out light but with the method that I use my other corals are growing and thy are pushing the hydoids out so I think that I could live with them if I want to and if I do I will scrub everything off the dry rock before I start over
