Can I use silica gravel?

I am setting up a saltwater tank for the first time in years... I have a few bags of Ultra Stone , white silica gravel laying around ... Can I use them or do I need crushed coral????

i would use sand as a DSB.

stay away from those. Get a sand, argonite or crushed coral.

Definately save yourself time and money and go with sand. Argonite is good, and then get some lice sand to seed it with. I don't know how big a tank your talking about so I can't tell you how much but the sand is definately your BEST bet!

ummmm.....that would be LIVE sand, not lice...LOL
