Can I use silicon to glue acrylic dividers in a glass tank?

I am making my own sump with a glass tank and would like to know if I can just use silicon to glue the acrylic dividers to he glass tank?

The silicone will stick to the glass just fine, but for the acyylic take some sand paper and rough up the area along the edges where the bead of silicone will be and it will provide a stronger bond.

That what I did and it has worked just fine. I have alot of flow going through my (small) sump too. 125 gallon display with a 20 gallon (tall) sump.

I used a little sandpaper and mine held up fine, here is a picture:

One more opinion though, my lfs sold dividers that have an easy base you glue in, and then slide the acrylic in the holders. I wish I had gone with them. They look cleaner.
