hmmm i dont know what your trying to say but live rock cant actaully get ick to where you see it but can be a carrier for the disease and can be introduced into a new tank. i always thought inverts couldnt get ick

You cannot hypo inverts - actually, you can, but it kills them. That is why it works on ich. If you want to use lr and sand from an ich-infected tank, put it in a rubbermaid tub with a ph and heater and leave it without fish for about 6 weeks. The ich will die without a fish host, and the rock and sand will be safe to add to another tank.

If there is nothing in the tank, then yes you can add it. Be absolutely certain that you wait at least 6 weeks before adding any fish. If you add them too early the ich will have a host again.

Inverts cannot host ich, but ich can come into the tank resting upon the rock or invert's surface.

yeah, i agree....just cycle your tank with the rock and sand. just wait the 6 weeks.
although i wonder if high ammonia would kill ich anyway, since i think its considered a invert, right. i may be mistaken, i thought i read somewhere that ich is an invert.
