From what I know. The U.S, was the first country in the world and the U.N. to recogonize Isreal as a country. We have supported their existance ever since. In return Isreal has been extremely loyal to the U.S. in our military and economic endeavours no matter who is in charge of the either country. It is like a best friend relationship. The Yom Kipper war further solidified the nations support in both direction. Egypt refused a cease-fire agreement and was aided by a few other arab countries and armed by russia (USSR). We inturn for the first time sold weapons and armaments to the Isreali's. This helped them hold off and win this war. They have been greatful ever since.
If you look throughout history, Isreal is one country who's borders have never expanded much. It is a country that never initiated wars or grabs for land. Each time they acquired land from a war, they were the defenders and took the land to create a buffer zone between their homeland and the surrounding hostile countries. And once the aggressors withdrew they gave up the land again. This is unprecedented in history and should be a key reason Isreal should receive full support as it shows something. A willingness to exist without greed in the region and a willingness to look for peace.
If you think about it Isreal could nuetralize each middle eastern country with their nuclear weapons, yet they have not once. And if any group of people have been more wrong in this world it is the jewish people.
Technically, The entire issue about the palestinians is not purely resting on Isreali shoulders. Gaza strip and a the west back are issues and fall under scrutiny, however Jordan and egypt gobbled up much of the palestinian land early on. It was not until Jordan and Egypt attacked Isreal did Isreal acquire much of the gaza strip and the west bank. And this has helped fuel the fire. When Jordan and egypt held these lands there was no issue. It was not until these lands fell under the control of Isreal was it an issue. (this is how I understand it)
Furthermore you add in the fact that each time peace talks have been conducted and things look like they are close to a settlement the palestinian leaders suddennly stop talks and negotiations and the PLO, Hamas, or other various factions would start the terrorists actions again. Isreal has always been the one looking for a peaceful solution, the Palestinians just don't seem to want one and always leave talks...even though Isreal is granting much in concessions and land.
The other reason is Isreal is one of 3-4 total countries in the world that mirrors the U.S. and how we believe a free a society should live and conduct themselves.
Darth. I love you. Dearly. Really, I do.... but... it's IsrAEl, NOT isrEAl.
