just an update if anyone cared.....
it is Siderastrea Radians (lesser starlet coral): tough to kill Caribbean species
says it tolerates extreme temperature fluctuations, still to pounding water movement, direct sunlight, rainfall, pollution, variable salinities, and all manner of light intensities.
The book that i found this in says if ever there was a beginners coral then this is it....almost invincible.....

I'm glad to know what it is because I have one of those on my live rock as well. I thought it was a little colony starting......bummer but, glad to know what it is.

Those are button polyps a zoo. they spread very nicely. I have some in several spots in my reef but I bought mine.

no they aren't button polyps....they actually dont fall into the zoanthid category at all.....actually part of the scleractinian family (stony corals)....i provided more of a description above in my last post on here.....
