Reef according to apogee their meters can not be calibrated for led lighting. If your fixture puts a broad range of spectrum then you can get a general idea with them. But without a spectra radiometer you'll never be able to accurately measure leds. Which apogee sells now for about $4000.

There was an email that someone shared from apogee about that. I'll try and find it again. But yeah it did talk about the fact that sensors don't accurately read the blue lighting very well. Even when you compare the lux values of leds they get lower and lower the further down the spectrum you go for leds of the same power rating.
I forget which thread that was in Corey, but the info Corey passed along is correct.

It really comes down to how much blue is in your mix. Royal blue LED's are deeper into the blue spectrum than the Blue Plus T5 lamps so I am sure it's going to be significant. I am heavy on blues. I know before I added more LED's I was getting PAR in the 90's at the sand yet a cool BTA I have hides in a cave at the end of my tank. I've never fed the thing and it's been then for months doing fine. Even if it was out of the cave it isn't even below any led's. That's a lotta friggin light LOL!
