what I need to connect my sump to my new 10 gal fuge? I borrowed this px from arjayl - this will be similar to my setup, but I don't understand how to connect the two. Do I need to get the fuge higher than the sump? What materials do I need to get the water from the fuge into the return pump side of my sump? My setup doesn't have the valve in this px - do I need that?

you will need the valve to slow down the water flow goin to the fuge and if the fuge is higher than the sump you could drill the fuge and let the fuge gravity feed the sump

I'd suggest a ball valve and use bulkheads on both tanks to connect them or just put a bulkhead on the fuge and elevate it so that the pipe exiting the fuge can drain over the lip of the sump

So I will need to T it off of the return pump hose - is this how the fuge is kept oxygenated? I don't want to drill this fuge since it is glass. What material should I use as a bulkhead - I guess I have to make my own?? And what kind of pipe to allow it to flow into the sump? Like a Utube?

Just got back from hardware store. He was able to help me put together a spray bar, but I'm still confused about this sump/fuge. My sump is plastic but my fuge is a 10gal glass aquarium. I don't want to drill it. How do I get the fuge to flow into the sump without drilling. He wasn't able to help me with this either. I've looked for other threads about it, but haven't had any luck. Thanks again!

If you don't want to drill the fuge you're out of luck, unless you want to replace it with a plastic one like a rubbermaid container

I have an idea that I am going to try that I do not know if it will work yet. I've got a 20 long I'm going to use for the refugium and a 10 gal for the sump. They are both the same height and when placed side to side, it appears that I can get an overflow box on both sides. So the idea would be to have the refugium overflow back into the sump. I will be using the t off the return line with a ball valve to restrict the flow. Have no idea if it will work but I'm going to try it one of these days.

You might want to try building your own fuge out of plexi and then you can drill it. Its actually pretty easy. I just started the process and have been practicing.
TOTAL COST $52.89
Plexi sheet from Home Depot (they cut it to size) $29.90
Weld-On #3 w/applicator $18.00
PVC tubing $4.99
There are a TON of how to do's for using Weld-On with Plexi. (not all in SWF message board) Ive done some testing with some scrap pieces today and its really easy.
The $52.89 isn't cheap but you can have a Fuge that you won't have to worry about overfilling onto you floor, and you can customize it to fit perfect under your tank.
The peace of mind you will have is well worth the $52.89
If you want, I can email you a link to a very informative site about building an Plexi tank.
I compare Weld-On to JB-Weld. Very easy to use. It actually melts part of the plastic to create a seamless tank! Just like the pros...well sort of
:D
