Can SPS corals be kept under PCs?

I'm just wondering, is there any kind of SPS that can be kept under PCs? The reason I ask is because when I go to the LFS, I always see very small SPS frags that are like 1/2-1 CM long on the bottom of the SPS frag tanks that I can probably ask to get them for like $3 each. If I were to get one, Id put it in the tallest part of the tank which is 2 inches from the surface. It would be going in a 8 gallon biocube which has 2 18 watt PCs. I already have some kind of SPS coral thats at the tallest part of the tank for a week and is doing very good. I was told that it was a shroom at the LFS and it really did look like a shroom, so I bought it for like $2, then when I came home and acclimated it and I felt it and it was a SPS!

SPS is a pretty vague description, since there is a lot of variation within the group. It would help to know what the genus of the coral is, at least. But as others have pointed out, there aren't going to be a whole lot of SPS corals that are going to do well under that lighting.

I've had growth on 3 different colors of monti-cap, but almost lost a monti-digita as it was bleaching. This was all pretty far up in a 55 w/260w PC. The monti-digita is in my frag tank under T-5 now and is doing great (it'll be going under MH in my 180 when that's done being setup), but I wouldn't recommend anything other than a monti-cap under PCs.

Ok. But ill still try, the frags are tiny and I can probably get one for a few bucks. Alot of the tiny frags are acros I believe.

honestly, sps are the ugliest corals out there if they're not colorful. they have nothing else to offer IMO, other than some of them have cool growth structure. i see no point in keeping them if there going to be tan or brown and grow slowly. i think some people are just looking for the tile of "sps keeper".

If its going to be brown and tan, I'm going to give it away or throw it away.
