so i have a 10 gal nano and recently it crashed... well i wasnt' running any type of mechanical filtration on there, but since i'm starting anew, i went ahead and bought a protien skimmer to lessen the chances of this happeneing again.. well my lfs had sold out of the protien skimmer that would have worked for my tank, and their truck wasn't coming in anytime soon, so he just gave me the next size up that he had for the same price as the smaller one... hehe, a seaclone 150!! on a 10 gal tank... i got it for $115, which i think is a pretty good price.. i guess it's safe to say that if i wanted to move up to a larger tank (which i will someday) that i have the filtration for it. the only things that is stopping me from doing it right now is that i live in a 1 bdrm apt and space is limited.... hence the tank sitting on my bar area in my kitchen... but i'm glad i had it up there cause as you can see i needed all the extra room in the back for this monster... so anyway, on to my question... is it possible to have too much filtration??

HHAHAHA. Wow.... That skimmer is likely to suck out any thing you put into it. So if you plan on doseing with things then i would turn off the skimmer occasionally or turn it down ALOT...

OH and one other thing. Be carfull with all the cleaning supplies near your sink. You definitely don't want any of that stuff going in your tank. Definitely be carefull with anything that sprays around there.

haha, ya, i guess it's better to have too much than not enough... pluse when i upgrade tank sizes i won't have to get a new skimmer... and yes, i'm pretty careful with the chemicals

There just was an article in one of the aquarium magazines debating whether or not you can over skim a reef tank. If I still have it, or can find it, I'll post where you can find out about it.
Overall though it said it was unlikely you could with standard skimmers.
