Can there be too much flow?

I just got my new hydors today. Well they sent me the wrongs ones I got the 600gph instead of the 400. I only have a 55gal tank and I was wondering with my return from my sump do you guys think this will be too much flow. I am looking at about 1800gph flow for a 55 gal tank.

with the wide flow pattern of the hydor's, you should be ok.

If you plan on SPS, I would opt for more flow. Right now that's about a 33X turnover which isn't bad for SPS, but more would be better. On my 55g, I have right around 2900gph for a 53X turnover. It just depends on what you plan on keeping.

You have 53x turnover.... Holy crap man. Your fish most be incredibly buff from trying to stay off the walls..

I too am getting ready to set up a 55. So what is the opt. flow rate?
