Can this sponge be saved?

After 6-8 months of doing great, this sponge started to decline and I haven't been able to reverse decline even though I've given it more flow (but still not heavy).
Any ideas?

Gotta keep the algae and cyno off it. Trim back the dead parts and stick it where there is little light. Algae and cyno don't grow were the light is not. And yes, keep up the flow.

from what i understand if a sponge is ever exposed to air, it will eventually die off. sometimes this will take a long time to happen (like six months) but it will happen. if this is the case, i dont think there is any saving the clam. just a thought
