Can this work?

Okay it looks like I will not be putting a tessy in my 150 so I wanted to throw something else out there. What do you think about this:
Clown Trig
Sohal Tang
DME
Then maybe some small damsels to add some color.
Thanks in advance.

It could work . But as always a clown trigger is a crap shoot . They can be fine for years than snap . The DME could also pose a problem as they do eat fish and it could sneak up on your fish while they are sleeping .

I'd look for another tang IMHO. Even with the aggressive tankmates, i'd think the Sohal would take things a bit too far in a 150.

If the DME thinks it can eat it, it will try. Make sure you get a small DME and bigger fish and keep the eel fed. 95Harley has the most experience with them. His ate a fish one day out of no where. His DME is a decent size.
What about bigger angels?

I know clown triggers look awesome but think of another trigger you may like...Clown triggers are great when they are say under 8 inches but after that WATCH OUT...
Good Luck

Alright if the sohal is not a good fit, what would be a good suggestion? As far as the large angels the ones I like (emp, queen to name a couple)I think get too large for my tank. I think those will have to wait until I get my big tank. Thanks

I was thinking the same mix for you gotaggressive.
A Sohal maxes at 15" and could work IMHO, but they say they do not share the tank well with others. An Emperor or Queen angel max at 15" and 17" and could possibly work. All three are tough customers and can hold there own.
I have kept my DME with several fish with success (including a Flame Angel)but then added a 4-5" Kole tang for Maintence cleaning and he didn't last 10 minutes.
I think if you got the other 2 fish first and they were 7"+ then added a 20-22" DME it could work.
I would avoid the trigger because they are known to snap, grow to 18", and like to make things into their chew toys...not worth risking a DME.

I'd throw in a vote for an Emperor or Queen Angel. Another that might do well is a good sized Majestic Angel.

I would say you could go 2-3 med-Large (7"+) fish and a shoal of Chromis or Damsels and the DME in the 150g.
Would be a much cooler tank than an empty tank with a massive Tessy IMHO.

Im starting to think that the 240 isnt even big enough. Im thinking a pond or a 1000 gallon is truely what this animal needs. People say sharks need a ton of room and those sharks are half the size of the eel.
Im still doing the 240 cause I ordered it already. But it will be a while before it gets set up. Around 6 months. Im not going to buy everything at once. I will lose interest when it gets warm and I race my bike more.
I just think a DME and few angels and what ever the heck else tickles my fancy will just be pretty sweet looking.

That sounds really interesting. So maybe a couple triggers (picasso, niger, or maybe a small clown) and something like a dogface? Would the dogface be too slow to be with an eel? Are DME's and BDM's about the same temperament? I think something like that with the damsels would look pretty sweet.

I can honestly tell you from exp that there is never enough tank.
If I had my 240g to do over it would be simple but my favorites.
DME
Queen Angel
Sohal Tang
Broomtail Wrasse
tons of damsels and chromis
Simple!
But as it is now I have a ton of color and always want more..lol. My advise is plan carefully and be satisfied and realize that there are unlimited choices as long as you have your favorites and are happy to NOT have them all you can't go wrong.

Triggers and Morays are 50/50...they may just try to make your eel into a new chew toy.
I persoanly have had a Niger and a Black Hawaiian go after my eels so they went bye bye.
The clown is suppose to be worse of all.
As far as the BDM or Brazialian Dragon Moray I have heard reports of a few of them killing tankmates but they prefer clams and crusatations in nature. They don't get as big (max around 2-2.5') and would ba anoter choice that would not break the bank at around $200-250 for a good sized one.

Okay here is another threesome I could be interested in.
Lunar wrasse
Purple tang
Queen angel
Dme or brazilian dragon. If I can't find the fish as large adults and get them as juvis should I wait until they are a certain size and then add the eel? Thanks

That could take a while. I have had my picasso trigger for 6 months. Feed every day. Lots of water changes I know. But He has grown maybe a inch. They are cheaper when smaller. They get expensive when they start calling them show size or extra large. How small of a Dragon can you find?

The smallest I have seen is a 22". However I have been slightly rethinking things. I am planning on upgrading to a large tank here in the next couple of years and so I will be holding off on several fish I really like but do not want to force in a 150 (ie angels, maybe an eel, etc). Here is new revised list of possible fish
juvi niger
juvi picasso
purple tang
one spot foxface
dogface puffer
powder brown or powder blue
handful of damsels or chromis
Does that have any chance in working? Thanks
