depends on the make i think. the store you about it at may be able to tell you or look online on the manufacturer's site. check the bottom pane for a 'tempered' id.

yes you can, they usually use a diamond tip cutter to drill it. You can ask your local Home Depot or Lowe's store and find out if they do this kind of service. If you have money to spare, you can buy one.

I've looked on All-Glass and the bottom of their 10G isn't tempered, would the back be for any reason. I would like to make a mini-reef tied into a larger system. I'm wondering if I could just drill a hole in the back for an overflow to tie it together.

Customer Service from All Glass emailed me back to say that the 10G glass is to thin and it will crack if drilled.

A used arcylic tank sounds great, only problem is it would take me 2 years to find something like that around here. In the past 4 months I've seen 4 used tanks for sale around lincoln ne. All were glass, 2 were 55g, both wanted more than what they were worth, and the other 2 were being sold together, not sure on size, they both sold before I called.
