In my 90g I have had a yellow tonga, colt and cabbage. They grew big fast but the didn't seem to bother each other at all.

Thanks.....I have always wanted a yellow one, and am shopping this weekend...LOL

I'm thinking of getting a chili for my 54G....it has a satellite dual, so I think it will be great in there

Chili corals like the shadows..but not totally dark, a cave or large overhang to put it under and have water flow going over and past it not just at it. I used to have a beautiful one...stupid heater

Yellow is such a nice color in the tank, seems everything is green, brown, red or purple.

My chili was ripped from the quiet of his cave for a mini cruise on the urchin. It's in good company, a frag of pipe organ, and a couple of little hermits.

I really have been rather let down by my chili. There's no "wow" factor to it.

My 30 is leather heaven. I have a Devil's Hand, a couple of finger leathers, a cabbage leather, and a toadstool. All of these guys are very large and have pretty much overrun the tank. I am planning on fragging some of them soon.

As long as you run carbon, the leathers aren't an issue. I know many people that have "leather only" tanks and they're PACKED.

As for the chili, I have mine baking out in the open under 250watt halides at the bottom of the tank and it's fine. They're fairly hardy, just add some plankton/rotifiers to the water every once in a while.

Get rid of the urchin..I hate those little pin cousion things...I also had one kill my pipe organ as well, the urchin had a new home by nightfall the next day. If a critter kills my coral, it has no place in my tank.

They must, I am sad to say but mine looks better cruising in the open than it has in the protection of the cave. It hasn't grown at all since I got it five months ago, it's about 1". I feed marine snow to my gorgs that are in the same tank. I'm disappointed that I'm so disappointed in it.

It was always a delicate balance, not too much light but yet it needs light to open. Water flow is very important..I had a huge one, in my 75g, a goby buried it under the sand and it never recovered. My last one I attached to the top of the cave with the ledge angled out so light would still reach it. It had orange stars instead of the tiny white ones my first had but it was healthy and happy. I lost it when my heater broke.

I have a diadema urchin now (long black spikes and a little red dot), it does not pick up corals, and feeds on the algae like I want it to. Comes out only at night under the moonlights.
