Can you have too much rock??

I was wondering if you could actually have too much live rock? I have my DT filled I have my sump and fuge filled can I have too much? Will dead spots hurt me? I'm curious please let me know Thanks

yes, a 10 gal tank with 40 lbs of rock is filled up. Depends on what you want. More water, or more reef. 1.5-2 lbs per gallon is ideal. you can go higher, but i think that is wasting money.

You don't want so much that you have dead spots. That can be fixed with more powerheads in the tank, but I usually stay in the 1.5-2 lbs per gal for my tanks.

I initially had 30 lbs in my 55. Flow was great. Then I added another 100 lbs. With 130 total, flow was terrible. I added over 2000 gph in additional powerheads to take care of that. Overall, more rock is beneficial, as long as you have the extra flow to compensate.
