Can you have too much sand in your tank?

I have a 12g nano and it has about 4" of sand in it. Is that too much? Whats ideal?

I have a 4" SB in my 225, and wish I had a 4" SB in my other tanks too....
I think it is a good thing if you have sand stirrers/shifters/cleaners also....

I have a 4" DSB in my 29 ~ and I LOVE it

I have no experience with a DSB in the DT. I have one in my refugium. I have read of problems some have had with DSB's so I opted for the refugium route. Easier to remove if issues arise.
