Can you seed LR?

I live by the ocean and have gathered various rocks formerly alive (I assume). They have decorated my LS/FO tank for some time. My question is if I put cured LR into the tank, would it eventually spread to the dead rock?

Yes. It will take some time, but it will happen. You got lucky with the rock you found by not contaminating your tank. I'm glad it worked for you, but not a good idea to attempt twice. GOod luck--Bob

I would not recommend taking anything from the ocean and putting it into the tank. You did get very lucky, I would just do it with good additives, reef advantage( with strontium ect )for example, an adequate level of calcium and alkalinity and good lights. Just wait, it will happen.

Great! Thanks, I know I got lucky the first time around and I won't do it twice. They are awesome rocks so I'll sit back and wait for it to happen.
