Does a candy cane coral have to be on a rock, or can it be set on sand???
The frag came on a small rock.

I don't have an answer...sorry...but I am curious as well. I got one that arrived today, right now it's on a rock....Everything I got was great...but this one hasn't opened or closed any more since I set him in there. Is it supposed to?

I have all of mine on rocks. After I recieved them it took them a few days to open up. Give them time they will open when they are good and ready.

Did you glue yours to the rock, or just set it on the rock?...Right now mine is just sitting in a dip in a rock.

if you have great lighting, I would put it about in the middle, if you don't have that good of light, I would put it in the upper part.

mine came on a frag and I glued the frag to my live rock. I am running a nova extreme pro T5HO light so I have them placed in the middle of my tank.

Right now it is in a 54g under 130watts....will that be appropriate? and where would you place it with that? It is supposed to go in my tank with MH lights, but I have a fish that eats coral I am trying to catch (raccoon butterfly) WHAT A JOB!!

OK...NEED TO KNOW..If I keep it under the 130w lights in the 54g, will it be okay if I put it on the top? ORRRR should I put it in the big tank under the MH lights, in a protective basket till I catch the KILLER FISH...??

It should be fine in your 54 gallon, however more water volume generally means more stability. You could keep it in the bottom half of your big tank IMO.

OK thanks...I originally planned on putting it in the 225g, but I can't until the killer raccoon is caught...I don't want the candycane to be eaten....SOOO the 54 is only temporary.
