Candy Cane

I gave this Candy Cane to a friend of mine a few month ago since then his tank crashed and this is all that is left of the coral what can I do to get it back to good health.

Put it in good water. Feed the heads that are able to eat. You kept if for a while and I am guessing it was okay when you gave it to your friend. Do what you did before and what is able to come back will.

candy canes are tough,
i am embarrassed to say this but when i first started i kept them in a tank with nothing but 1 stock t5 light then my tank crashed, so i kept them in a 1 gallon tank with a small led light for 3 weeks and now they are back in my tank and doing good.
time, good water, and they sould come back for you.

What do you suggest I feed, just filter food or something more meaty?

Since it came out of a tank that crashed sould I be worried about die off?

In my experience candycanes are indestructable. It will come back if you offer it a proper environment (stable water and sufficient light) along with regular feedings.
My canes will eat anything that is small and meaty. You can buy any type of seafood. Just cut it up into pieces that are small.. similar to the mysis shrimp size... or you can just buy the prepackaged cube food.. like mysis lol.
I always soak my food in zoe (not my food, but my tanks food

) I think the little nutrient boost helps.

something dies, (anenome, boxfish)) or adding live rock that isnt cured, a bad batch of salt or water, power goes out, heater blows up.

Anyone know why saltwaterfish.com would list candy canes as difficult to keep? I just purchased one with two small heads.

I have 8 heads of neon green and blue canes. They are pretty easy as long as you keep them fed I feed mine 3 times a week a mix between cyclop-eeze and mysis. They are under T5 lighting and moderate flow and they are doing great. Just my .02

I spot feed my candycane and it is under 150w MH bulb. It is doing great!!

Just got a new frag...do I have to feed the candy cane with a syringe or will the food get to it from the water? How do you know if it is alive?

Ditto, I My fience and I just received her parents 75 gallon reef tank two months ago and everything is doing good so far. So I found a LFS close by and bought food and a ten dollar candy cane fag with three polyps on it last night so I would also like to know the correct way to feed it.

i used to feed my candy canes, but i haven't in about a year now. they don't need to be fed. they just thrive when fed.
the food must be placed on the individual heads. it's not going to get to it from the water column.
they are fed best when the lights go out and their tentacles appear.
