Canopy and light tranformation

Hello,
I just bought a canopy for my 55 gallon tank. I also have a PC lighting 260w. Now, I took the lighting out of the case and wanted ot know if it would be safe if i screw in the reflector on the lid of the canopy and the ballast screwed down securely?
What is the best route to take. please help!

Yea you can do that but try to use a spacer about 1/2 inch or more so air can move over the reflector and ballest and use scews that are not to long. You dont want them to pop out the top and ruin that new canopy!!

What should I use for spacers?
