canopy lid opens on top???

can i see some pictures of how to mount the lights. my canopy opens on top, and has two braces that go across. I wanted to mount vho in there, but now i dont think i can. I really hate my canopy. I wish it had doors in the front.

Mine is the exact same way, and I don't like it either! Fortunately, it's on my soon-to-be aggressive tank and I just want to mount moon lights and 2 normal lights. I bet they make different canopies for reef/vho/mh lighting. Good luck!

not sure who made it, but its only about 6 inch tall, so to put mh in there im going to have to raise it up another 4 to 6 inch. I'm going to have to rebuild it somehow.

Well to all the crafty people out there, I had the same problem with my light housing and canopy. I got creative. I went and found the same size pieces of the strapping that holds the top together making all the surfaces the same plane. I then took all the lights out of the fixture and predrilled screw holes through the top of the light housing. (I used #10 size stainless steel screws to fasten to the canopy.) I marked out wher the screws were going to fall in the strapping and placed a small blot of silicone sealant to the back side of the fixture and screwed it directly to the underside of the canopy. My lights are unseen when closed and makes for easy maintenance when opened. It worked out great. All you need is a little sense of carpentry and any one can do it. I think this cost me apx. 15 bucks.
