I bought a green clown goby a few days ago and I havent seen him since? Is this common? I dont have any large fish, but it is a reef tank and if the fish dont want to be seen theres not much you can do.
thanks

If you have a overflow box check there.. Sometimes they may go and hide in a spot until they feel comfortable coming out.. this period usually doesnt take too long though.. but if there is any kinda spot they can get sucked into (overflow box) they can and will go in there!

Yea, my clown gets cought in the over flow. He even got sucked down to the basement once. I have a pistol shrimp I was hoping he was holed up with him. I thought the pistol was history but I saw him the other night. I will keep looking, but im not very hopeful :{
thanks

I'm not familiar with the goby that you are talking about.
I did purchase a "black Capped Goby" though. He hid out for 10 days before I started seeing him.
Now he's one of my favorite fish. He's a little more bold now, and very curious. He dens up close enough to the front of the tank so that he can keep track of when food is coming.

Well, when it comes to missing fish, i dont have a clue. What I mean is I have had a cardinal, cleaner wrasse, and a snowflake eel, all three of these fish are still MIA and that was 3 months ago. I have not a clue what could of happened to these fish, I never found them and probably never will. I dont have anything like an overflow box for them to go in and nothing that could have sucked them up or fish that would have eaten them. But I did have openings in the back of the tank where they could have jumped out and I also have a cat who is quite the fisherman. So about 2 moths ago I I completly sealed off the back of my tank so the fish cant jump out and my cat cant get his paws in their and grab the fish. I have not lost a fish since I've done this, so maybe you should check if you have any openings where the fish could have leaped out of the tank.
