I am not having any luck keeping my Emerald crabs alive. I have tried 3 times over the last month and within 3 days they are missing or dead. Tank is 2 months old but LR and LS are from my original established tank, since January of this year.
Parameters are good; 90gal
Salinity 1.021
Trates/trites 0
Ammonia 0
Temp 80-82 daily
MH lights with VHO
RO/DI water
Some but not alot of bubble algae in tank
Everything else in the tank seems healthy, my stock list is;
Potters wrasse
Scopas tang
4 Green chromis
Royal gramma
10 hermits
10-20 snails
2 cleaner shrimp
4 small corals; xenia, frogspawn, zoos, toadstool
Thats it... anyone know what the troubles are? Is this crab more for established tanks? I watch when I feed and they seem to be getting to food source...

3 things come to mind imediately:
You need to get your salinity up to inverts and corals 1.023-1.025, It need to match were it came from.
Acclimation process? is most key!
and I think your tank might be too "young" still. I didnt add inverts till about 6 months, i kept losing arrow crabs.
ALSO, sometimes they just die until you get a real hardy one.

I have had salinity at that mark perfectly for months now. Thought and think that is good from all the reading I have done on the board. If I were to raise it are there any side effects taht I might get from that?

If you do raise your salinity it has to be at a crawl speed, just top off with saltwater instead of fresh, AND if im not mistaking FOWLR salinity should be ok at 1.020 to1.022 and with corals and inverts 1.023-1.025, somebody out there correct me if im wrong, but im 98% sure of that.

The first thing i put in my tank was an emerald crab. The only thing i can think of is maybe the potters wrasse is eating them. Try getting bigger ones. i have seen them come in tiny and large and the larger ones do best. My Smallest one is nickel sized but my other two are about the size of a half dollar coin. All three have been living hapily in a ten for the past 2 and a half months
Heres a pic.
