Can't see pods

I have a 75 gallon with about a 10 gallon sump. About 150lbs LR. 4 110watt VHO's. 3" LSB. 2 Clowns, 1 Yellow Clown Goby, 1 Kole Tang, 1 Firefish, 1 Chromis. The tank has been running for 5 years.
There have been times when I've seen a fair number of pods, never the amounts that some people have seen in their tanks. Recently, I haven't seen many.
Are they there and I just don't see them?
I'd like to get a mandarin, but have always been afraid that it wouldn't have enough food.

If you let your glass get some brown algae on it, you can use a flash light and look at the glass a half hour after your lights go out. Try to get a red lens on the flash light so you won't spook the fish too much. I leave the brown algae on my glass about 3 inches up from the gravel on the sides. I see pods there every night. you can also try to get a female mandarin. They will most likely eat a wide variety of foods besides just pods. I have a male and he only eats pods and live brine. I had females in the past and they ate flake!

Don't get a mandarin. The tank isn't big enough and probly does not have enoguh live rock. Also try pileling up some live rock up in your refugium or DT.

Tank is too small?? Everything I've ever heard/read is to have a minimum 75 gallon tank and a minimum of 100lbs LR. I'm well over that.

tank is ok, but if you get a mandarin you also have to have adifferent ways of supplying the pods, like growing cheato in the sump.
pods are always there, some times you don't see them that much cause the population constantly increases/decreases. eventually they will multiply again so much that you can see them when lights are ON...

Every fish you listed will eat pods,( except maybe the Kole, but will eat the larvea ) they might just be keeping the numbers down. As already said, best to set up a fuge so they can get established in high numbers and reproduce quicker.
