I would think the grouper will end up eating your damsel. It seems the grouper can get to grow 1ft 8inches.
The one i seen at my doctors office was 16 inches. They require a 100g tank.
Here is a description
Panther Grouper, also known as the Polka-Dot Grouper, is an off-white fish with orderly polka-dots over the entire body that add a festive touch to your aquarium. It is found in crevices and swims along the reefs of the Indo-Pacific, where it can attain a size of up to 20". The polka-dots camouflage the fish and act as a disrupter by breaking up the body shape so that other fish and would-be predators cannot identify it.
This is a very hardy and long-lived animal provided it is kept in an ample-sized, fish-only aquarium of 100 gallons or larger, with sufficient filtration. They grow rapidly, so be sure that the tank you have them in is of sufficient size. The Panther Grouper will eat any fish and invertebrates it can swallow.

Thanks for the info. It was very useful. I can't wait until the panther eats the damsel. I hate saying that but I'm ready for the damsel to go. He always flaping his tail at my gamma.
Thanks,

If its for your 55 i would return it.
Unless your going to upgrade tank size
You would only be able to keep large fish and probably no inverts.

His is about 1 inch right now. I think I will keep he for a while and then trade him back to the LFS for a credit when he starts getting to big.
Thanks,

He will eat the damsel that is giving you a headache, but, as he grows, he'll also eat any other fish that he can fit into his mouth.

Thanks for the info guys. I saw first hand tonight how he can eat. He sucks food into his mouth and swallows it whole. Now that is kewl.

It won't be a problem long...eventually the panther will eat both fish, neither of which are suitable company for a grouper for long. I recommend getting rid of that grouper while you have a shot....many stores, conveniently will sell them but not buy them back. They buy them cute and small to unload on unsuspecting buyers (if they sold you the gramma, damsel and thre grouper, well, this is proof they want your money and nothing else). But they are VERY difficult to get rid of once they start growing.

Well, I took the Grouper back. Got a credit of $19.99. That's what I paid for it. Thank all of you for the good info. This is my first saltwater tank. I'm learning as I go. Oh yeah, they gave me a $3.99 credit for the damsel too that I brought back.
Thanks,
