Yeah, I'm going to do it. I'm going to tub out and put a loud, ugly woofer in a grocery getter, just for kicks. car cost $200
The amp is a lanzar 900w rack series, the woofers are 2 audiobauhn 10" and I havent decided on the head or the speakers yet. I'm even going to hook up the cheezy blue light in the clear faced woofer. Its going in the back of the ford escort wagon. I laugh every time I think about rattling the body panels off this POS. feel free to laugh with me. (its all spare parts from when I used to build custom stereos for people).
I'm probably going to use a sony 40x4 to power the speakers because it has a really nice eq built it.

Probably not, I don't know which subs they are but audiobahns are built about as well as they get

Dont go baggin on Yugos, I built a nice little rally car about 10 years back for parking lot racing here in California. It was awesome. And Yes Yugo Limos are out there.
I read the thread and when I hear "TUB" I think Mickey Thompson wrinkle-walls. Just talking about the system or you going with slicks?

I'm going to remove the backseat and floor the rear area, so I can transport my dogs comfotably when they get BIG. there ging to be about 90 lbs each so ITs going to be a puppy mobile with awesome sound. (plus I'll be able to lug tools and stuff around. forget passengers we have another car for social trips.

Nah audiobahn can handle 900w peak no problem, dual tens no sweat. I've toasted enough subs to know what I can get away with, I've blown every Rockford 12" puch series they have made. I hate fosgate subs. they sound good then the voice coil goes every frikken time.

This reminds me of a buddy of mine when I live in Florida, he built a car that was amped out just so that he could win a local radio contest for "Windshield Launching" He had something like a 1969 LTD station wagon where the back area was solid subs and amps, he actually had to wear a helment when the contest started, but he won because he was able to launch his windshield about 30 feet (seal was broken around window and moulding removed) This was 20 years ago.....Keep us updated on the progress

i have 2 12" audiobahn flame series subs in a bandpass box with a 1200 watt amp in 1 car and it sucks. my other car has 2 12" hollywood excursion subs with a 800 watt amp and its great. much louder than the audiobahns.too loud for my liking i dont like it when my eye balls jiggle in my head lol.

ive got an alpine type R in my jeep right now, s-type speakers. im lookin to replace the sub with a type x, or just go with a 12"memphis and pick up some highs.

Ha! I had my first set of speakers (free from my brother) a pair of pioneer 10"s and his amp in my very rusty spray painted 89 Blazer. Great airspace, they weren't great speakers but they sounded louder in that then my Rockford 12s in my S10. And yeah pieces literally fell off my truck on a regular basis, I just picked them out and threw them in the glovebox.

Now my GF is talking like she wants me to put the back seats back in it... I already have everything torn out after oking it with her before I did it now she changes her mind...... Grrrrrr. women. I'll never understand them. I never would have torn everything out if she hadnt told me it was ok with her.

Lemme guess what else you're gonna do ... put on some ugly @r$e body panels with a picinc table for a spoiler on the top and a mustang hood scoop on your hood all in puke green color with neon lights underneath, and lower the suspension and tune your motor that will sound like a friggin' chain saw going down the highway. Yep that car will look really special - like a Ford-tard. Just do yourself a favor - don't challenge "old School" cars to a race ie : Olds 442 4 barrel ...
Oh yeah BTW - you'll probably waer the battery out or fry your wirings real quick ...

I think they sound more like model airplanes.
Also, you missed putting your name on the rear windshield in "Olde English" lettering, and a "Type R" sticker on the rear fenders.
Oh yeah... and a spoiler that doesn't match the rest of the car.... wait you did get that.
But at the same time, I guess some could argue this way about our hobby as well:
Lemme guess what else you're gonna do... put some garish metal halides on there and more pipes than a tobacco convention with 200 pounds of rocks that cost more per pound than Kobe beef, then maybe add a couple of huge pumps that suck more power than the electric chair all to keep a bunch of fish that are too stupid to not jump out of the tank in the first place...

makes me think of this guy in springfield, mass. he has an old bmw (he as in mid to late 40s) it is black or dark blue.. and he screwed in white ground effects from different cars (painfully obvious because they are all different and dont fit right) and this homemade spoiler that is the funniest thing you will ever see. since it is getting warmer and i have a camera phone now i'll try to snap a couple of pics if anyone wants a laugh.
