carbon filter?

Is it necessary to run the regular carbon filter/bio wheel on a 20 gallon w/live rock? I have about 25-30 pounds of live rock in the tank with a power sweep running for better water flow. I have a button polyp, mushroom, two anemones, two feather dusters, a sifting star, some hermit crabs & snails in the tank.

I used to run mine 24/7 but I don't anymore. So far my water has stayed really clear. Do you have askimmer?

No it's not nessesary... although there is a differance between running carbon and running a bio-wheel. I'd remove the bio-wheel and run carbon once a month or so.

No skimmer. I have just the carbon filter pad which flows through the bio wheel...i change it once a month. It it's not going to hurt anything I'll leave it in. Otherwise I'll stop running it if it's not needed. My water got extremely clear after I started using live rock.

That's a great idea. I think I'll start doing that.
