Carbon

I used to run carbon and change it out every 2 weeks. I just read that there is some evidence that running carbon can lead to hlle in tangs, I really like the crystal clear water but I wouldnt want to do anything bad to my tomini tang. Who runs carbon? If you dont what else do you do to keep the water crystal clear?

For as long as I've read this board most of the older folks(along with myself) will only run carbon if the tank looks a little cloudy. In most situations there's really no need for it.

Check into Purigen. Seachem makes it.

i used to run carbon 24/7, and never had problem with tangs. now i run them 2 weeks per month just to keep the water looking clear.

Hmm ok. Maybe ill go with the if its cloudy use it, idea. Its looking cloudy the last few days so I did a water change early seems better, but I took the carbon out a while ago, maybe ill put it back.

I only run it for 1 week after w/c.
1 week works for me.

Carbon is only needed to remove chemicals or to polish the water.
