Care of LR

As most of you probably know I keep no inverts but lots of fish and LR. My question is what types of additives do you guys use to keep it healthy? I did start adding coral-vite at water change time--is that enough or should I be doing more?
Also I'm looking for opinions on whether or not you think it is possible to "over tweek" your tank? What I mean is adding to much stuff (in case you haven't noticed there are a million products out claiming to do this or that, all of which sound like good ideas)and constantly checking and changing to attain the ever-elusive perfect water and conditions for our animals.

I also use Coral-vite,and this weekend I'm starting with Kalkwasser. Also to help my live rock grow. Soon I will be adding corals and I want my water ready.I'm also going to ask about essential elements,also ny Kent Marine. Can you overtreat the tank?? All the stuff I mentioned are reccomended to be used together by Kent Marine....STEVE
