Caribbean Hermit Crabs

Went to the beach and got 3 of these suckers on the shore. They're pretty big. Don't have corals yet, but will in a couple of months. Safe to use?

according to Wikipedia those are land hermitcrabs. Best not to put them underwater.

They have gills, though... but it seems you're right. Might borrow their shells before I take them back home. There are plenty there.
