I am worried about my carpet anemone. My clown fish never did go to it. Thats why i bought it. anyways, this moring it was big and puffy as normal. The when i came hoem from work it was shriveled up and now is more normal again . I have had it for about a week and a half. also i noticed in the middle where the mouth looks to be it is a darker yellow color. What is happening to it??
If it dies... which please tell me how i will know... do i take it out or leave it in???
my water is good.. ph 8.3 to 8.4, amonia 0 , nitrites 0, nitrates 0 to 5 salilty 1.24 ..lights on 12 to 14 hrs
Thanks

hey you should get a plastic prong and feed it silversides everyother day i do about a small silverside a day and as far as the clown it might not be the right kind of anemone lots of types of carpet anemones

they sell them at most all pet stores with the other frozen foods just get small silver sides the are about 2' and skinny put one on the end of the prong and put the fish on the anemones mouth or the middle of it and if its healthy it will take it from you its kind of cool to watch
good luck

Hi becky, silversides will be in the freezer of your lfs, also anenomes due this, they fill with nutrient rich water and when they are done with it the expell the used water and, then refill with new water. This is a process that repeates and repeates ,the amount of times they do this depends on the amount of nutrient rich water you have less nutrients the more often they need to do this to survive. they are filter feeders. if you add to your water you should rarely have to feed them. DTS phytoplanktin is comenly used....fixit
