I have one of these. They are fairly loud. Mine does not "hunt." But will occasionally make his clicky sound. Obviously the sound of the gun in the video isn't the sound they actually make. But everything else checks out. I didn't know about the bubble...that's cool. Anyone else have one?

Yeah, those aren't quite as bad. Mine isn't the kind that pairs up really. It is the hunting species. I just thought I'd share since it's a very common misconception that the claws coming in contact with each other is what makes the sound.

The bit about the bubble being as hot as the sun is true believe it or not! I had to look that up because it just seems so unbelievable. It is as hot as the sun for less than a microsecond and I guess when you consider that it is so small compared to the sun...it is more believable.

I had a tiger pistol shrimp and as cool as he was (digging and pairing up with certain fish) I finally brought him back to the petstore - I suspect he was killing some of my livestock. I kept having "mysterious" deaths in that tank that I couldn't attribute to anything else and the last death (a big blue-spot goby) had a very obvious "bullseye" mark on his dead body - you could clearly see a very injured point of impact with redness all around it. It didn't kill him instantly - I saw him barely alive for a few hours but when I removed him to put him in QT, he died. I really think my pistol shrimp was psychotic and shot at things that started him or something.
