I'm 16, so technically, I don't own a car.
But what I drive:
'99 Jeep Cheroke ( ;) )
What I'm going to get, once I learn the stick shift:
'99 Jeep Wrangler ( )
What I HOPE to get (assuming I beg my parents for it and they accept):
'71 Chevy Nova (MUSCLE CAR!!!!! )

OneFli, pretty sure its physics here but 6th is really high. Anyways it pulls to 140 like a ape 140-150 isn't shabby but beyond that ugggg. Running bacically stock - ram air mod and a K&N filter. I know in the 1/4 that the hp needed to drop from say 13's to 12's isn't near what is needed to drop from 12's to 11's.
gotta remember these foreign beasts like the diablo's and shylines run at just over 200. Think at 150 aerodynamics really come into effect

ren- i'm not sure what your point was there, but as for the skylines. well, a stock skyline gtr will not run over 200 mph. a fairly modded skyline could pull that off quite easily if given the distance.
as for the diablo....of course. what do you expect from a $200K+ car...extra cup holders?? ;)
anyway, alot of cars are speed limited also, are you sure your not hitting a rev/speed limiter @ 152?

1998 Toyota Camry. Not exciting, but it is all mine. Being in this hobby doesn't leave a lot of money for cars. Not in my case, anyway.

Nah at 152 theres just no more room for gear. This happens quite often with cars designed to go fast at lower RPMs. You could change that and gear it in a completely different aspect... raise the stall maybe even stick in an automatic with overdrive and lengthen all the gears. But whats the point. How often do you drive 152mph. I don't consider that sad by any means. It's street legal and it out performs every car I've had it up agaisnt except some people with $40,000+ put into their car with mods and NOS. My Camaro does 95 at 2,300 and about 4,800 at 152. Sure I could build it with deeper walls and make it do 95 at 4,500rpm and 152 at 7,500rpm but then it would sound a lot like more of those lame rice cars out there with big fart pipes and 4 cylinder engines. That pretty much destroys the point of having a muscle car with drag perfs. It's all about your tranny linking with the engine. There are many Camaros made with just the reverse... back in 1997 Chevy built a Camaro with a 9.2 litre engine and 12.1 compression that had over 950 horse and 860 torque. This car looked and felt just like a standard Z28 inside the car... until you hit the gas. You can build a car just about anyway you please and you're going to get varying performance from the different ways you change it... that's no secret.
BTW: Ren you're correct about aerodynamics. Even with my car the hood has serverly decreased the power of my car. Due to how much wind it displaces. It's kind of sad but I need that much clearance under the hood. Vipers, Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Lotus, Porsche *cough*, are all made with aerodynamics in mind. Aside from having superpowered V8s to V12s, yes, thats the bulk load of what makes them all that much faster. As well as carbon fiber bodies and aircraft aluminum frames in some cars.

Yeah it is a kit - not worth as much as a Shelby CSX car but much more sophisticated brakes, powertrain, suspension, etc. Check out www.factoryfive.com
Don't let the price on the website fool ya. I have over 40 G into this thing.

DPittman, if that is the real deal then that car is awsome. Even if it is only a kit car it still looks awsome. I've personally never seen anyone with a real Cobra. So which is it, and How much did it set you back?

OneFlySi point was that I think once ya hit the 150 mark - it takes extream radical changes and big HP to go beyond.
Sad truth on my TA is the factory 310HP isn't enough to pull in 6th. That gear is to high. Shift into 6th at 150 and it'll slow to about 135 - 140. No speed limiters on it - all gearing/aerodynamics/weight. The only limiter on it is a rev limiter that cuts in at 6k. 152MPH in 5th turns about 5700.
Now - lol - if I had say around $7k to invest in a intercooled supercharger - that would boost the 310HP to around 450 - enough to hit about 170 prob.

I'm still waiting to see LOTR's pics. Someone called him out, and we haven't heard from him since! What is that, Lord? ;)

Maybe he's goin ballistic on us again? Lol I just thought that since he started this he'd want to show em off. Besides - OneFliSi asked a while before and nothing.

well, we could go on for days about this 152 crap.
and all you V8 owners i'm tired of you saying this and that about imports. not all the 4-cylinder's you see out there are all "riced" out. i have put a little over $5K in my civic and it will run mid 12's with slicks. not bad if you ask me. that's a total investment (car included) of about $20K. i still have at least 10 grand to go before i even come close to the price of a TA or SS. you know how much faster i could be with $10K more in mods??? running consistent low 10's most likely. so don't think all of us riceburners are the same. cause i don't know how many 5.0's, TA's, you name it...i have put to shame after they rev on me.
and that's another part that makes it fun. you look at a TA and you know its suppose to be fast. when you look at a civic you definetely don't think its fast. and that is the fun part. pulling on a TA and stopping at the next light to see his face is priceless. so all i'm saying is don't think that all of us out there are the same. some people do have more than "fart tips" and neon lights :p

haha not impressed yet. I ran a 10.26 as a best so far in the 1/4. Changing my charger pulley this weekend, hoping for 9's.

Where is LOTR pics at.. Was he fibbing? Is he LOC{lord of cars) also.
As far as the imports go. IMO. they may be fast but they sound like damn bumble bees. I can't stand to hear one of those boogers wound up. Its like fingers across a chalk board. Not to mention my grandmother and grandfather drive a civic!
I'll stick with the Yota for my gas millage and as far as speed.. Speed limit is 55 in most places. Mine will do that easily.

Amen, Wamp! I had a 87 Mustang GT I used as a daily driver. I used to love pulling up next to ricers. I can't stand the sound of those fart tips. Man I miss blowing the doors off of imports!
