in my experience with ich and trust me i have a lot because i use to work at a petstore for a number of years...not gonna say which cause it'll start another conversation all together...you are best to find out what is stressing the tang in your tank as is and leave it in there. i know this will sound wierd but trust me i've had great experience in doing this...make sure your salt levels are ideal for the tang and if that means bringing the salt levels up, do it. also feed him nutrient rich foods meant for tangs. you can also do small water changes every now and then until he is better and i'll let u know why i say this and it'll make sense.
right now your tank already has ich swimming in and out and on top of everything in your tank. i'd say your tank is no different than any other tank because 9 out of 10 tanks have ich in it but the fish are taken care of that they don't get stressed out so that ich can attach themselves. the only way ich can attach itself is if the fish is stressed cause the slime coat fish naturally have on their scales protects them. if they get stressed that slime coat wears away enough for the ich to attach itself. now the reason i say keep it in the main tank cause your taking it out of a tank that already has ich in it, stressing it out by catching it and putting it into a new surrounding. then whatever way you use to treat it will stress the tang out even more but will probably kill the ich when it's in the quarantine tank. then once you put it back into your main tank again the tang will be stressed out still and will go back into a tank that still has ich floating around and then catch it all over again. make sense?

Totally makes sense from what you are telling me, the only question I do have about your advice is that I have read when you see ich on your fish this is the first phase. Second phase the ich multiplies and then detach from the fish making little pods. Final phase is the pods (hatch)? And then release numerous amounts of fish to feed on the other fish in the tank. From what I understand is if Ich does not find a host fish within 3-5 days the organism will die. My main concern is to control this pest so that my other fish do not become infected.

Sorry to here about your tang. Here is the board to do your research and get lots of help:
https://forums.saltwaterfish.com/t/127007/faqs-fish-diseases-treatments-quarantine-health-info
It is also very important to provide the best possible envirment ant food for the fish for it to pull through. Please give all you specs. so anyone that wants to help knows the full story.
Tank size-
Age-
Filtration-
gph-
How long you have had the fish-
temp-
salinity-
amm.-
nitrites-
nitrates-
And anything else you test for-
How you maintain your tank(water changes, amount, how often, type of water, ETC.)-
What stock you have-
what and how often you feed-
This will help to try and see where the problem is and what can be done to help. You can't just treat one fish for ich, so you'll need to decide if you are going to treat all or try and improve and hope for the best.
You will need to makle a well educated decision. So do your research.
