catching a DAMSEL

I know this has a lot of answers but I am looking for only one. I have to get this damsel out and I know there are multiple ways, but I want to try the fishing hook method. What bait should I use? I usually feed them pellets, but they are too small to put on a hook. I just added some xenia and caught him bitting it.

look it up. it doesn't hurt the fish. and by he way there is no possibility of catching this fish with a net. I do have one of the big nets too

You are kidding me...
OK.. have you tried making a trap??
I made one out of netting that cost $1 from teh craft shop...block off sides of tank...trap it in the middle and scoop it up

NOOOOOO it wasn't that easy....but it did work on a raccoon butterfly

as soon as I walk up to the tank he goes into the rock. the only time he is out is when I am feeding them

lol the hook method??? what if you accidentally hook one of the fish other than your damsel?
when I got rid of my damsels, I literally had to take all the rocks out of my tank so they couldnt hide. then they started hiding in the narrow gap behind my overflow box lol

HEYYYY..My trap worked!!!...Block one side of the tank first.....when it comes out...block the other side...I made the netting on the one side liek a curtain....and when the fish finally came out...I pulled the curtain...trapped it in the middle...and scooped it out
LET ME TELL YOU..If I can do this...anyone can

how did you keep it out of the rocks. once it is in there it can swim to the other side of the tank

yep... Meowzer's right. here's whatcha do: take a peice of bridal veil and lay it across your rockwork from one end to the other. leave about 4-5in at one end for the fish to swim thru. throw some food in there and when he swims out to get the food, shut off the other end. works like a charm
it may take a few hours for him to get used to the net, but it works!

I just realized that I have some net that I am going to use to make my tops for the tank. this is going to be one of those times where I wish I didnt have the canopy on there.

I am glad that you are looking at netting this guy rather than using a hook. Damsels are very clever, but very curious and bold. Lay the net then step away from the tank. If he knows that you are trying to catch him then he will stay in the rock.

I had the same problem with 2 damsels. I got tired of trying to net them. I just got fed up. I got my 2 big containers and took out majority of my rock. It sucked, but when I was done, the little butt heads were gone. And my reef looked different again. (wasn't happy about that) but, it taught me a valuable lesson...I hope you have success. Let us know how you capture him.
