myth or reality...does your pet cat go after your fish?
how many of you have cats as your pets along with your fish?

I have two cats...one has no interest...the other one will sit and stare at the glass forever...he'll swat at the fish as it swims by, and gets into it with my Emerald crab through the glass...yes, the crab will fight back.
But, I have a full hood over my tank, so the cat can't do any fishing...probably would if he could though...

My cat used to sit and stare at my tank all day long. If you left a chair next to it he would jump up and swat at the tank. He loved watching the fish. If he didn't hate water so much I'd swear he'd jump right in there with them.

I've got two indoor cats and they could care less about the aquarium. Now the sump is another story since its not built into the stand. The younger of the two is curious about all the water movement she sees when I forget to put the cover on the sump. One of these times shes gonna get a saltwater bath....then I skin the kitty:D

Two cats and seven tanks. Sometimes one of them sit in front of the hawk tank and watch. Neither have ever tried anything though. Now our west highland terrier has a good time in our pond. But that's another thread;)

2 indoor cats, and the only thing they are interested in the tanks for is basking in the light from them. lol They are too lazy to catch anything except the occasional moth that may slip in the door.

Two cats, sisters, for the most part they only pay attention if they notice someting new.... they stopped getting into the tank after I got a Blue Lobster (freswater) that waold fight back. I think part of it is that they are older and know they can't get anything out of it. however every once and a while they still bat at the hermit crabs through the glass.

He will try jumping in,and sometimes gets a hold of the rim of the stand and hangs on, soemtimes he actually jumps into the glass, that is soooo funny when he tries that.
WHUMP!!!(WTF, oh, it is onlythe cat again)

The only thing that my cat wants is to lay on top the tank and go to sleep. She likes the warmth of the lights.

My cat has never bothered my display tank, but one day I caught her peering over the side of my 10 gallon Q-tank while a firefish was in it. I gave her a good smack in the head and she doesn't do that anymore.

I have (2) cats. One old and one young, they will both sit and watch the fish as they swim past them. My young cat will bat at the fish as they pass. It is real funny to watch them try to interact with the fish.

I don't have a cat but I have a big yellow lab/golden retriever mix that never used to go in the room with the tank before the tank was there but now he sleeps there. He goes in and lays down and falls asleep watching them, it is really cute. Except that everytime i work on the tank i see dog hairs floating around in it afterward.;)

I have 2 cats that are constantly leaping at the tanks. Wham! into the side of the glass they go , shake there heads and go at it again. Just hilarious to watch. The stands from the 2- 75 gal. fw are all clawed up. grr. One of the cats is always jumping on the glass tops of the fw tanks and looking down at the fish. One day I had the top off for cleaning and the cat jumped up and went for a swim. Dumb cat couldn't get out and when I got the cat out, boy was that cat mad. Scratched the crap out of my arms. Almost worth the laugh. I had a good laugh at that one. Glad I have a canopy on the sw.
