woke up this morning and caught this snail eating another snail! i've seen it before but it was on the sand bed or in the back of the tank. i thought maybe they were shaggin before.
what kind of snail is this? i dont remember ever buying a snail this big! i'm wondering if it was a hitchhiker?
anyway, it's going in the fuge. it's big enough where it wont get sucked up in anything!

I was looking to buy what was recommended as a good algae cleaner. It was a fighting conch, will that eat any of my other snails?

Mine doesn't eat snails, it eats detrius from the substrate. It can't climb like a snail. It has a foot that it drags itself across the sand with.

I have a little bear conch...and it buries in the sand, BUT it also climbs rocks and the glass...

It's definetly not a conch, conch's are strictly algae eaters. I'm not sure what it is other than its more than likely some species of whelk. One of the problems with mollusks is that several different species are sold with the same common name, I just did a search for the Fighting Conch and came up with three different species that were all sold as fighting conch's. To answer the Taxladys question if it is a true conch they are great algae eaters but keep in mind that conch's get very large (4"-6" for the fighting conch) and need large sandbed areas. They can also topple rockwork easily.

Yeah, that would definitely be a problem. My tank is only a 24 gal aquapod. Sand is fairly filled up now. (gotta make room though if I find a good brain to put there.)
Thanks Natclanwy!
