so excited i can hardly type 
those of you following my monster, it was a chase (nice to have a 2 sided tank!) back and fourth several times, those wooden shish-ka-bob skewers come in might handy!!!!
i wanted to take a pick of him trying to kill the serpent star (he did injure it a little, i hope he will be ok) but there was no time for a pic, i was more concerned about the star. i am soooooo happy he is out, now maybe i can replace some fish that he has devoured!

Holy crabs!! He looks nasty. It looks like he could even do damage to your fingers Hope the star will be OK.

i found a claw from one of those guys when i swapped from my 55 to my 100... it was huge... glad i didnt ever see him... dont know what happened to him though... :notsure:

keep a close eye out, they hide under rocks and eat your fish & inverts!!! so if someting is missing one day you will know this monster did it

your starfish should be fine. Make sure to give it some meaty foods at least once a week and it should regrow nicely.
As for the crab . . . I would keep it. In a separate tank mind you, but I think that crabs are neat animals that can be a great addition to a specimen tank. just my .02

I have a crab that looks similar to that in my 12. He's been in there a year and hasn't seemed to touch any of the other inhabitants. He's got hairy stripped legs, black tip claws, and very noticable eyes. His claws are different if i remember right. They form clamps rather than the pointed sissor look your's has.
But you definitely have some sort of rock/stone crab terror. Give him a 1 gallon tank and watch him grow. They get huge. I know a fish store that raised one and its way bigger than a chicago softball now.

Beck, it took about 15-20 min. trapped him into a corner with the skewer and netted him out. he kept sneakin under a rock and going to the ohter side of the tank. had my daughter on one side, me on one side and my husband going nuts! lol, it was funny.
everyone else, i dont know what we will do, as i said he is in my QT with the other hitchikers we have gotten out and my damsels. i guess you could say i have an agressive nano right now.
