CC Vs. LS?

I have a 30 gal with LR and CC currently. Should I have used LS- what is the benefit? Is it too late to switch- how would I do that with fish and rock already in the tank? Thanks for the advice!!

from what i've learned - mostly on this board - it is possible to change over from CC to LS, and LS should provide better control for your 'trates and all that good stuff (everyone out there knows more about this than I do tho)... the process is very involved... you pretty much have to take your fish out of the tank and put them someplace (preferably in water j/k), like a rubbermaid container or another tank if you have one... then basicaly set the tank back up again... someone please correct me if I am wrong.
This is the feedback that I got and out of concern for my critters I decided against it. My tank has been doing fine with CC for nearly 10 months now.. no losses or abnormal spikes in my readings.
Just my two cents.

You are asking for a huge debate.
This topic has been discussed many times. So don't get discouraged if a lot of people don't reply.
Instead, try doing a search on DSB(LS) and CC, you will find some really indepth debates.
My opinion, both work, both have plus and minus.
I use CC in maintank, but am going to set up a refugium with DSB. Best of both worlds I guess.
Changing over is a big ordeal, go with what works. If you really want DSB then go for it, but be prepared for a lot of work.
Thats all...........MCF

This is JMO. I use ls because I don't want to have to clean the crud and uneaten food out of the cc. I let crabs and what not do that.

Great thanks!! I am leaving the CC- I have no quams- just making sure I am not really missing out on a benefit of DSB.
