CC vs Sand

I have CC in my 90 gallon and am wondering if the sand is better. If I change to sand, do I just change a little at a time? The tank is very new (started 12/31/05) and about thru cycling. I have 2 clownfish in there at this time.

With your tank that new, its a good bet you dont have a lot of beneficial critters or bacteria in your CC, all of that is going to be on/in your live rock. If i were you i would just switch out all the CC with sand in one big swoop.

sand is better for alot of little critters that you would want in your tank. cc will trap food and detrius with sand it will settle on top.

Ok, I think I will replace the cc with sand. I get play sand from the local menards or somehting like that? Do I have to wash the sand or what?

i had crush coral and i hated it. as it ages it is good for lots of benficial stuff, but if you disturbe it then your water gets real milky. I have sense stuck with sand no mater what. And take a look at my sand, everyone loves it. its called MARINE SAND, about 100 lbs of it.
