What company has the best deals on cell phones? I need something for myself and my wife. I really only talk to her and I use my cell for long distance. Any ideas?

depending on where you live Cigular can have soem great offers - they have free mobil to Mobil for anyone else that is a Cingular customer
I have never had an network issue or dead areas since they combined with AT&T.
Verizon is also awsome as a carrier-- great rates - better phones then cingular - and many times shared minutes and buy on get one offers
Dont look for cheap - look for coverage otherwise you are carrying nothing more then a paperweight
also ask if the carrier has a test drive period so you can return at no fault and no condition if it doesnt meet your needs - most carriers do

I was looking to get a cell too. But it really bugs me that you have to be tied into a contract for 1-2 yrs. That is a scam, if you ask me. And, if you get a plan wo the contract, then you basically are going to pay for every single minute in addition to the monthly charge. That is a bust.

Beth,
I may be wrong, but I think most cellphone companies will allow you be a customer without a contract, but you have to pay full price for the phone. It works out about the same.
One good thing about Cingular (unless they changed) is that they prorate their cancellation fee every month so the longer you are on the plan, the less the cancellation fee. Some other (like AT&T before Cingular bought them) had the same cancellation fee from day one to one day before the contract expired. Something to consider.
