Chaetomorpha in the tank?
Hello, everybody!

I've just received Chaetomorpha I ordered from Internet. I purchased it because we are going out of town for 3 days and I wanted my yellow tank to have something to graze on :happyfish . Besides I read that it's completely safe and beneficial for the tank.
We have a yellow tang and a damsel + 2 anemones (no corals) in a 55 gallon tank.
Can I just put it in the tank? :notsure:
And how do I attach it? To a stone with a fishing line? Is rubber bend safe?
There cannot be any parasites on it, right?
Please advise

The only negative is if you do not have enough grazers to keep the stuff in check, it can overtake a tank, but I think your tangs will keep it in check, it will come in a big wad, just take a piece of LR and put it on top of the chaeto to hold it down.

Birdy, thank you for your reply!
I did what you sad and it looks good so far. My Yellow Tang is definitely interested, I saw him eating
loose pieces of Chaeto.
Now I feel much better about going away for a few days.
I wonder if any of it is gonna be left there when I'm back. :D

Chaeto is free floating, so while it will grow, it wont overtake your tank. It wont attach itself to rocks like calupera.
