Chaetomorha Algae

Hi,
I am cycling my 20 gal now. I have a skilter 250 that I am turning into a refuge. My question is, do I have to wait until the cycling is done before puting the algae in, or can I put it in now to take advantage of the high nitrate and phosphate levels because of the cycling period. Note: there is also Ammonia and nitrite in there.

you shouldnt have the phosphates in there thats not part of a cycle.
but I dont understand how your going to turn a skelter into a fuge they are way to small to that with IMO.
I would like to see how you done it if you have a camera though.
you can add the algae now but I would wait until its more of a stable enviroment myself

On one of my early posting, someone who did it, and had pictures of it gave me the idea.

ateast someone came up with a use for them. they were useless as filters or skimmers.

What you do is take the protein skimmer tube out and you have a empty space. Then place a small coralife mini freshwater light( 2-9 watt 6700k) on top of that. its a great fit to. also take the top protein skimmer box off.
