I don't know when I will be able to keep fish my temp in the tank is running from 85-88f ....I looked into a chiller 1/25 and it lcost $750
I wonder if I put fans in the canopy that would help. Anyone have any suggestions?

I like the idea of a school of chromis...
You could always do blue reef instead of green.
When I set up my next tank I'm going to do a school of chromis, probably a pair of b/w percs, some kind of shrimp goby w/pistol, some clown gobies, a flame or coral beauty angel and a mandarin once established... Havent completed the list but thought it might get your gears turning...

To make the story short ...the guy who help me build the tank work at a LFS and I paid $80 bucks for 44lbs ..2 boxes worth. He has more but I have no more $$$$.

Not that you are actually going to do a pair of clowns but my thoughts on it are this... I hate anemones since they end up where they want to end up, so when I get the percs I'll move my frogspawn over to that tank to offer them something to host in. That way I'll have more control over where they end up. Might offer a torch too. Just a thought - good luck!

Fans in the canopy would help but would cause more evaporation. They don't cost much so I would give it try. I love schooling fish, chromis' would look awesome. I am fond of true percs or clarki clowns. I would add a small angel too. Maybe some schooling anthias instead of chromis, they cost a lot more though. Really good setup, and thanks for the pictures.

Your tank is looking good. As far as a fish list you know I am partial to tangs. I'm adding a Blue Hippo (in QT right now), Sailfin and Yellow Tang. As far as small fish I have two False Perc Clowns, two Bangaii Cardinals, Yellow headed Sleeper Goby, and a Royal Gramma. Oh, I'll also be adding three Anthias. I debated on adding the Blue Green Chromis but decided to go with the Anthias instead. Either way your tank is going to look awesome!!!

Anthias it is huh? Let us know what kind your going to get. I looked into them but they all looked pretty similar... If I like yours I may shift to the darkside and replace my chromis.

Didnt mean to double post but it got me thinking so I looked at all the anthias offered on this site and my favorite is the Bartlett Anthias. The only scary thing is a school of eight would cost you 240 bones compared to 40 bucks for the same sized school of chromis. Hope you have a big penny jar....

I have a MAG 7 inside my sump for a return. Has anyone had similar problem with the pump overheating the water? Can it be the MAG 7 thats hooked up to my closed circuit loop externally?

I'm getting the Lyretail Anthias, as they are more reasonable and more hardy from what I understand.
Make sure you only have one male if you get a group. I'm getting one male and two females.

You guys have fun with those anthias... The Marine Corps dont pay enough for that mess. Unless they come in a care package I'll be sticking with the chromis...
