Hello,
I was told that you can by a certain type of play sand and use in a FOWLR tank safley? I was told that Yardright/Oldcastle is a good brand but I cant find it on the east coast (GA).
1. Is this a good idea if you can find it and if so is there any other brand that would work well?
2. I was told that with live rock and maybe mixing 1 bag of live sand with it that all the sand would eventually turn into "live sand" is this correct?
Thanks for your help.

You can get 40lb bags of seaflor special grade reef sand for 35 bucks, or aragamax sand 30 lbs for 25.00
you can also get ocean direct caribbean live sand - 40 lbs for 35 bucks.

as far as I know old castle isnt in business any more. Though there is a play sand at walmart that passes the vinigar test.

how deep do you want your sand bed.
For a 1.5 inch bed you will need about 80 lbs
for a 2.0 inch bed you will need about 100 LBS
In my 150 I made pvc squares to set the base rock on so it makes the sand a little deeper
