my cheato keeps floating to the surface... im assuming that its because of bubbles, i have done everything i know of to reduce the micros bubbles, such as reducing flow, as well as putting in live rock under the return. any suggestions to keep cheato from floating to the surface?

That is the way it normally does. It is close to the light and turns over in the tank. I would leave it alone.

spectrum is more important than wattage for growing macro IME.
I use "2" 13 watt 6700k pc lamps and my chaeto growth is insane.

Chaeto floats. Don't try to impede that.
Chaeto needs high flow. I've tried different lights and honestly flow seems more important to it. I'm currently growing buckets full of it in my refugium under a 10,000k 150wt HQI.

You really want it to tumble and float. But I really don't think added flow would hurt diatoms. But dont' really know either. If you are worried about that. Cut a milk jug in half long ways. stick a little powerhead in the bottom. (drill a hole) and let the Chaeto tumble in there.
