cheato illeagal in ca?

so i was at my lfs today and was talking to them abotu how peopl emake refuges in the back of these 28g nano's in place of the stock filters.. and when i mentioned cheato they said it was illegal in california to have and or buy it. is that true? and if so why is that?

Absolutely 100% false. Some caulerpa is banned, therefore, lfs don't carry any type of caulerpa.
Chaetomorpha is legal to have.

ahh ok cool, he must have thought i was talking about the other stuff then, he didnt know the name cheato but when i told him what it did he must have thought i was referring to the other stuff.
as for my location socal i live in lomita its near longbeach and san pedro, i am not sure if i want to make a fuge in the back of my 28g nano yet but if i do i will keep you in mind for some cheato,

It does say here on SWF.com that they will not ship this to CA as well as a couple other states, if you look it up.....maybe they have some sort of problem with it growing out of control if it were to get into open sea or something??
